The park currently has 13 roller coasters, with only two of them being kiddie coasters. Six Flags Great America has the world tallest double decker carousel, and the worlds largest operating bumper car floor. The coasters are not the only record breaking rides in the park. The most recent addition to the park came in 2012, with the construction of the first winged coaster in America, X-Flight, which is yet another B&M coaster. The first flying coaster in the Mid-West is also located at Great America, Superman Ultimate Flight another B&M coaster. The first hyper-twister in America was also constructed there, built by B&M, Raging Bull is still the longest, tallest and fastest coaster in the park. Not only did Six Flags install B&M first coaster, they also installed B&M's first looping inverted coaster, Batman: The Ride, which also was the worlds first inverted looping coaster. Iron Wolf operated at the park till 2011, the ride was moved to Six Flags America where it stands as Apocalypse. The first B&M coaster replaced Z-Force, the ride at the time was the tallest and fastest stand-up coaster ever, this ride was Iron Wolf. They also built the first ever "Space dive" coaster, Z-Force, which is no longer at the park. It flipped riders upside down 7 different times. Since Six Flags has owned the park, many record breaking coasters have been installed, like the now defunct ShockWave, which, when opened, had the most inversions ever on a roller coaster. From the 1984 season to present, the park has operated as Six Flags Great America. After the 1983 season, Marriott sold the park to Six Flags. It still is the world fastest, tallest and longest racing wooden coaster. American Eagle held the world record for fastest coaster for 7 years, and was the fastest wooden roller coaster for 19 years. This was the first wooden coaster built by Intamin. Marriott added two more coasters within the first few years of the park operation, with one being, American Eagle. Today only two of those coasters are still standing, Demon and Whizzer. In 1976, the hospitality corporation, Marriott, opened Marriott's Great America, a premier theme park with plenty of rides, shows, games, and 3 roller coasters. A RCT3 re-creation of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee IL, a city just north of Chicago.
